Beriah H. Magoffin
Dear Sir:

I take the unusual liberty of announcing myself to you as an applicant for the office of commissioner for your state.

I was elected First Judge of Albany City and County, N. Y. two years ago, and my term of office will not expire until the year 1864. During the time I have been serving as Judge, I have been frequently called upon to execute papers and do business which have required the aid of commissioners for the different States. The office of commissioner for your State will be of great convenience to me — the persons who are doing official
business before me, and you will confer a great favor by giving me the appointment

I will refer you to Gov. Morgan, U.S. Senator Harris. Judge A. J, Parker, Amos Dean Esq, of this City for testimonials of qualification & character. if they are required
