Dr Sir,. Yours of the 24 inst is at hand, in which you inform ^me^ that by sending you Five Dollars you will renew my commission as Commissioner of [...] Deeds for Kentucky; which expires on the 20 Inst &c After some reflection on the subjict, and the difficulty of getting Money that would go with you I have concluded to renew my commission, and herewith enclose you a Five Dollar US Treasury note for that purpose Registered to your address — You will please present me kindly to my old friend Govenor MGoffin, and send me the commission with all necessary blanks and derections at an early day — So that I may not be without authority to act should any business present its Self — Since this unfortunate war however, business here, that is proffitable is much like Angels visits — few & far between,, — We hope for the better — and think this game will Soon be plaid out —
