The undersigned commissioners appointed by an act of the Legislature of the state of Kentucky, Entitled, "an act to appoint commissioners to redistrict Carter County into Magistrates & Constables Districts," approved October 3^rd 1861, pursuant thereto and for the purpose of performing the duties assigned us by said act We met at the Court House in the Town of Grayson on the 22^d Day of February 1862 and after being first duly sworn for that purpose, Proceeded to redistrict Said County in conformity with the provisions of said act, The following boundary shall compose district N^o 1. Beginning on Tygarts creek at the Mouth of the Buffalo Fork where the Greenup & Carter County lines cross the Same; thence up the main channel thereof to the point of the ridge between the mouth of the Swingle Cave branch and the mouth of the Smokey fork, fork of Tygart thence a straight line to the state road at the Head of Barretts creek; thence a Straight line to the head of the left hand ford of the Dry Fork branch of Little Sinking thence down said branch to Little Sinking thence down Little Sinking with the main creek to its mouth at Little Sandy river thence down Little Sandy River to the mouth of the first branch that puts in on the east side of Little Sandy above J. B. Ward's thence up said branch and to the top of the ridge, at its head, between Little
Sandy ~~River~~ and the Little Fork; thence around with the top of the ridge to Montgomery's Chapel on the Little Fork, thence to the top of the first ~~part~~ point below the mouth of Strait Creek, on the East side of the Little fork So as to include the place where Isom Davidson Now lives thence Eastwardly along the top of the ridge to the head of Robin's Run thence a Straight line to the forks of Stinson at Mechanicsburgh; thence down Stinson creek to the mouth of the Branch immediately above James Clark's; thence up the point of the ridge above said branch and with the top of the ridge to the head of a branch that runs into the left hand, or road fork of Stinson near where the widow Dawson formerly lived, thence down said Branch to the state road; thence a Strait Line to the top of the ridge between Stratton's branch and Wilson's Creek, thence with said ridge So as to strike Little Sandy River between the John, W, Haw farm and Alfred Lowe's Farm; thence down Little Sandy with the main channel to the Greenup County Line; thence with the Greenup County line to the Beginning on Main Tygart;

We designate and Fix the place of holding Elections in the above district, at the Court House in the town of Grayson

Boundary of District N^o 2. Beginning at the mouth of the Buffalo fork of Tygarts creek

where the Greenup and Carter County lines cross Main Tygart thince westward with the Greenup & Carter County Lines to the Louis County line, thence with the Lewis and Carter line to a point on the ridge between the heads of Buffalo and and Smokey Forks of Tygart's creek; thence with the ridge between Smokey and Buffalo & Swingle Cave to the point of the ridge between Smokey Fork & Swingle Cave Branch in the line of District N^o 1. thence down main Tygart with the main channel thereof to the Beginning -- We designate & fix the place of voting in said District at the house and late residence of Caswell Smith on the Buffalo fork of Tygarts creek

District N^o 3, Bounded as follows Beginning on main Tygarts between the mouth of the Swingle cave branch and Smokey at the Corner of Districts N^o 1 & 2, thence with the line of District N^o 1, to the State road at the Head of Barrett's Creek thence, thence with the mouth of the Gorman Fork of Little Sinking with the Line of Distrit N^o 1. thence a straight line to the mouth of Dudley on Big Sinking so as to leave the house & Farm of C. S. Counts in District N^o 6. thence running up the ridge between Big Sinking and Dudley and with the dividing ridge between Big Sinking & Clifty & Gimblet crossing the county road
and with said ridge so as to include Nelson Sparks, and the old Peter Mank place where Frederick Mank now lives, in this district, thence a straight line to Big Sinking so as to include the House of James Gilbert, thence a Straight line to the Forks of main Tygart, thence up the ~~said~~ road fork of Tygart to the mouth of Smith's branch thence up Smith's Branch to its head at the Lewis County line thence with the Lewis County line. Northwardly to the line of district N^o 2, thence with the line of district N^o 2. to the Beginning on main Tygart, We dessignate and fix the place of voting at the Turnpike Bridge on main Tygart

District N^o 4

Bounded as follows; Beginning at the forks of Main Tygart in the line of District N^o 3. thence Eastwardy with the line of District N^o 3. to the dividing ridge between Big Sinking and Caney Creek; thence Southwardly with said dividing ridge between the waters of Caney and Sinking and Tygart to the Morgan County line thence with the Morgan & Rowan & Lewis county lines to the head of Smith's branch to the Line of district N^o 3; thence with the line of District N^o 3. to the forks of Tygart the Beginning We designate and Fix the place of voting at the House of W^m Johnson the present place of voting

District N^o 5

Bounded as follows Beginning on the Morgan County line at the corner of district N^o 4, thence with the Morgan & Lawrence County lines Eastwardly to the mouth of the first big branch on the Little Fork above the Waddle farm; thence up said branch to its Head and to the top of the ridge between the Little fork and Bruin, thence with the top of the ridge to the head of Little Greenbriar thence down the ridge between Little Greenbriar and the Birchfield branch To Bruin at the mouth of Little Greenbriar; thence a line to the ford of Little Sandy at the rock Spring meeting house leaving the house of Reece D, Horton on the North Side of said line, thence down Little Sandy to the mouth of Little Gimblet thence up Little Gimblet to its head thence a straight line from the head of Little Gimblet to the mouth of Dudley on Big Sinking in the line of district N^o 3, thence with the line of Districts N^o 3, & 4, to the Morgan County line at the Beginning We dessignate and fix the voting place in said district at the House of James. H. Armstrong

District N^o 6

Bounded as follows Beginning at the mouth of Dudley on Big Sinking; thence with the line of district N^o 5 to the Head of Little Gimblet thence down Little Gimblet with district N^o 5 to Little Sandy thence with the line of
district N^o 5. to the top of the ridge between Little Fork and Bruin, thence with the dividing ridge between Little Sandy waters to the head of the First branch that runs into Little Sandy above Jackson B. Ward's thence down said branch to Little Sandy thence up Little Sandy to the mouth of the Gorman fork of Little Sinking thence with the line of district N^o 3, to the mouth of Dudley on Big Sinking the place of Beginning We dessignate the place of voting in said district at the House of Andrew Ketchen Jem,

District N^o 7

Bounded as follows; Beginning at Montgomery's chapel on the Little Fork in the Line of District N^o 1, thence with the line of District N^o 1 to the top of the ridge between the head of Robins Run and Strait Creek thence along said Ridge, betwen the waters of Straight Creek, Stinson and William's Creek & Garner to the Boyd, Lawrence & Carter County lines at the head of Straight creek thence with the Lawrence & Carter line to the Little Fork, thence up the Little Fork to the mouth of the first big branch above the Waddle farm on the line of District N^o 5, thence up said Branch with said line to the line of District N^o 6, on top of the ridge thence along said Ridge with the line of District N^o 6, to where said Line of District N^o 6 intersects District

N^o 1. to Montgomery's Chapel the place of Beginning We designate and fix the place of voting in the above district at Rice's Mill on the Little Fork

District N^o 8

Bounded as follows; Beginning on Little Sandy River where the Greenup & Carter County lines cross Said River; thence up Little Sandy to the line of District N^o 1 between James Currey's & Alfred Lowe's thence with the line of District N^o 1 to the Forks of Stinson at Mechanicsburg; thence with the line of said District to the head of Robins Run intersecting the line of District N^o 7. thence with the line of District N^o 7. to the Boyd County Line at the head of Straight Creek thence with the Boyd County line to the Greenup County line and with the Greenup county line to Little Sandy river the place of Beginning, and we designate and fix the place of voting in said District at the house of A, B, Devore on Wilson's creek
