Mr Saml Clinton one of the Justices of the Peace for this District is about to remove to Missouri on or about the 1^st proximo —. Please say to his Excellency Gov Magoffin that Mr Nathan ,J, Roberts will accept the office if tendered to him & that the appointment would give satisfaction to a Majority of the voters of this District. I hope you will lay this before the Governor & have Mr Roberts appointed when
Mr Clinton resigns, or leaves the state. I will inform you when he starts for Missouri
