To His Excellency.

Beriah Mogoffin Govenor of Kentucky. Whereas Such is the threathening aspect of public affairs. and civil war is so iminent. it is the part of prudence and patriotism that I ask at your hand. The appointment of an Office of Col or Commandent of a Regiment in The Green River Country or some other. For I served a twoer in the War with Mexico. and their learned Military tactic and the use of arms. Which I have made my study evry since. and feel confident that I can dscharge the duty of that office with honor to you and my native state. For Refferences Z. A. Linn of Trigg our representative or Hon H. C. Burnett. I am Ready to go any wher that I am ordered. Whith those remarks I Remain Your Servent.
