To the Gov of the Commonwealth of Kentucky

Your petitioner B F Fuget & G B Dance State that some twelve month ago themselves together with B F Robbins Henry Fuget & Thos E Dance were passing a Knight to gether when Cards were produced & a game proposed for the licker for the Company that they engaged in sd game but not for the purpos of gaming but for pass time & the treet was more to keep the game than Any thing Els but sd gaming was Reported to the grand Jury for pendleton Cty & they were to gether with thos men of one named Indited for gaiming in premises under the control of an other man with out his be of that process had been surved on the Last named three in time for the April term of the sd Court 1860 that process was surved on your petitioners in time for the Oct term of sd Court when they went before the Court & admited what they had don whereupon the Court desided that they had violated the Law & assessed a fine on them for $20 eaich the Lowest amount in such cases
it is true that the amount is small & they are able to pay sd fine but they do not think that the plays was worth the candle or in other words they think the Law was made to punish men who followed gaiming for profits it is true they ar bound under the Letter of the law but not by the intention of the act the three gents that was engaged with them they understand has applyed to your Exelency & you have Remited there fine wherefore they pray that you Remit sd fine fee & cost Excepted
