Gov: of Kentucky:

Your Petitioner Marion V. Daniels, would respectfully represent that on the [ ] day of September 1860 he was indicted in the Lexington City Court for the offence of stabing in sudden heat and passion and that afterwards at the ~~September~~^October^ term of said court he was tried upon said indictment and judgment was rendered against him for confinement in the county jail for Six months and a fine of $50 —. The facts of the case are substantially as follows: The Deft. Marion V, Daniels committed the act charged with a small pen Knife and at the time had no other weapon upon his person; that the physicians in attendance testifed upon the trial that the wounds inflicted were trivial in their nature and of so little consequence that they did not deem it necessary to pay any attention to them whatever, that he has been confined in the county jail ever sicne he trial (about one month).

In consideration of these facts your Petitioner would respectfully ask a pardon for the confinement inflicted and a respite of a the remainder of said judgment until he may be able to make some arrangement for its satisfaction. Your

Petitioner is a poor laboring man and is not at present able to pay the same, but will be able so to do within a short time. An intervention of Executive clemency would be a great relief to your Petitioner and he will ever pray &c
