My dear Sir

The bearer of this letter is Sally White the sister ^of^ Hezekiah Alexander a free man of color who was sentenced to the Penitentiary from Meade County in July last.

Some time ago I sent to you a copy of the record in the case It clearly showed that the accused was convicted Contrary to law But I could not obtain an ap order of appeal because of this defect of the proceedings in this Circuit Court.

I must appeal to you in behalf of his sister and his aged father to pardon Hezekiah

Give him an opportunity of showing to you & to the world that he has been unjustly puneshed

His sister & Father display an
affection for him that adds dignity to human nature and on their account as well as on account of the unfortunate man I ask you to pardon him
