To His Excellency Beriah Magoffin Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky your Petitioner Jackson Campbell would respectfully represent to your Excellency that at the [...]March Term of the Whitley Circuit Court 1857 one Peter Perkins was Indicted for Illegal gaming and afterward at the August Term 1857 Judgment went against him for $20 -- your Petitioner would further represent that the game for which the said Perkins was Indicted was played before it was known here that gaming was an offence that they played for a mere triffle say ten or fifteen cents per game he would further represent that one Joseph Campbell replevied said fine for said Perkins and became responsible for the same and that since that time the Said Perkins has departed this Comlth. leaving no property and said Joseph Campbell and wife are both dead leaving a family of small children and but
but little property and if said Judgment of $20. is not remitted it will have to be made out of the Scanty ~~prt~~ Estate left said Children by their father ~~Joseph~~ Joseph Campbell The premises considered the prayer of your Petitioner is that you remit said fine for which he will ever feel greatful
