To the Hon B Magoffin Govnor of Kentucky

The undersignd Jacob Walker states that at the February Term of the Bracken cirut court, he was fined $100 for vending Lottery tickets That under the law as given by the court to the Jury, the Jury could not if they found he had sold Lottery Tickets assess a less fine than the $100 -- He states that he is not, nor has he ever been a lottery agent, That he was acting as Post Master at Brooksville and a hand bill came to his office from New Jersey proposing to sell a dollars worth of Juelry, Engravgs or other property for $1 with a chance of a gift besides, That some young men presant desired to invest and indcued him to send for some, He received their mony and sent for the Juelry, engravings &c not regarding it as a lottery or knowingor believeingit was a violation of any law -- That he has sold no other tickets, that he recollects of, except the those refered to in the Bill of Exceptions in the record enclosed (six in all) He states that he is a mechanic and has a large family to support by his labour, and the paymt of this fine and costs will weigh heavely upon him He prays that it be remitted ~~know to be~~
