To His Excellency B. Magoffin Gov. of commonwealth of Kentucky, your petitioners would respectfully state, that on the [ ] day of [ ]1859 Virgel Brown was arrested for the crime of Larceny and the examining court held him to the further bail at the March term 1860 of the M^cLean Circuit Court and George Brown and John Robertson became his sureties in the bail bond of the said March term of the M^cLean Circuit Court 1860. The bail bond was forfeited owing to the failure of Virgil Brown to make his appearance and George Brown and Jno. Robertson became responsible to the commonwealth for the amount of s^d bail bond whch is one hundred and fifty dollars, They would respectfully state that Jno. Robertson one of the sureties in the bond has left this state without leaving any means whereby to assist in paying s^d bond and that George Brown who is a very poor but worthy man with a large and helpless family is now responsible for the whole amount of s^d bond and that s^d Brown from his poverty is unable to pay the execution which was issued on the bond and that he has but a small tract or parcel of land, say 40 acres, and that s^d Brown would be
entirely broken up if compelled to pay the forfeiture and thereby leave his family in a helpless and destitute condition, Wherefore they respectfully request your Excellency to remit. the entire forfeiture and release s^d Brown from the payment of the same
