Gent this will be handed to you by Mr Wm Ricketts of Nicholas Co who has a Petition praying for the Remission of a Judgement obtaind against him in the Nicholas Circuit Court on a forfeited Bond for the appearance of his Sonn who Shot Jas Still of this County, Mr Ricketts has gotten into this difficulty Solely on account of a Reckless youth, ~~and~~ Mr Ricketts himself has been none [trouble] me he has done no more than a Father would do for a Son, Mr Ricketts is a man of only moderate means and the Collection of this amount off of him with what he has already paid would be ruinous to him, Mr Ricketts has laboured hard to raise a large Family he is a man of strict morality and
an honest upright man and if you can do any thing for him with the Gov ~~for him~~ you would at least Recieve the thanks of one of your consttuents if I thought the Judgement ought not to be remitted, I would not write to you to aid, him
