The Petitioner Cornelius Sheehan, states, that Andrew Sears, was indicted in the City Court of Louisville, for an assault committed upon W. N Mayfield

He states that he became bail for the appearance of said Sears at the [ ] term of S^d. Court, and That not long after he became security for the appearance of said Sears, he resorted to the means provided by law, for the apprehension of s^d. Sears & endeavored in every way to have him arrested & delivered to the city authorities, but without success. Petitioner further states, that the s^d. Sears, failed to appear & Stand his trial in the City Court, and that a judgment, was in consequence thereof rendered in s^d. court against the Petioner, for the sum of One hundred & fifty dollars ^on a scifa^ — Petitioner states, that the assault charged against the said Sears, was committed in a moment of excitement and quarrel, at a house of ill fame in the City of Louisville, and whether S^d. Sears was to blame or not, petitioner does not Know. He states that he is a connexion of Sears, & actuated by a Kindly feeling towards him, he became security for his appearance, believing (confidently) that he would appear and stand a trial — Petitioner states that he is a poor man ^with a large family^ & that the payment of the Judgment above mentioned, will injure him most
seriously — He therefore prays, ~~that~~ (and the undersigned concur with him, in this petition) that said Judgt ^Except fees.^ & costs mentioned herein be remitted and as in duty bound will ever pray &c.
