My dear Governor,

M^r William W. Rogers, was fined in the Mason Circuit Court, $25, for striking John Sweet with a cane, Sweet was offensive to him in his language, and called him a thief, and under excitement ^he^ struck him a severe blow, for which he was fined. He is an industrious, hard-working worthy man, and wishes to be relieved from the fine. I think it ought to be remitted and respectfully ask that you do so,
