To His Excellency Beriah Magoffin
Governor of Kentucky

Your Petitioner Philip Carroll states, that he was fined $10. on an ordinance warrant in the city Court of Louisville, for selling beer without license, Mr Carroll is a weakly sickly man and is not able to do any business, and is very poor- Mrs Carroll, is very clever & industrious, woman, and by her attention to their Grocery supports the family He respectfully asks Your Excellency to remit the fine.

I know Mrs Carroll she is a verry worthy & Industrious Woman, I have learned from her neighbors that her husband is in feeble health & unable to Labor & that she Supports her family by her own Exertions
