Beriah Mcgoffin Governor of The Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Dear Sir

At the November Term of the Greenup circuit court 1861. One John W. Prince was fine Seventy or Seventy five Dollars for an assault commited upon one Prater Hugh Craycraft became the Security, of Prince & will have the Money to pay unless your Executive Clemency Shall interpose & release him of the payment of the same. Except costs & commonwealths Attorney fees M^r Craycraft is a clever gentlemen in humble circumstances, but owing to the unfortunate condition of the country, it is impossible to collect money— and if his property is suffered to sell at this time, it would break him up. and then in all probability would not pay the debt. please give this matter due consideration. And if from the facts that will be made known to you Your Excellency should remit the fine — please Extend the time of payment.
