His Excellency, Beriah Magoffin
Governor of the State of Kentucky:

Your Petitioner, Robert H Thompson, would respectfully state to His Excellency that at the October term of Bourbon Circuit Court 1861⁰⁰ he was fined the sum of Seventy five dollars for gaming at Poker -- But a very small sum was won or lost at said game -- Since which time, your petitioner has paid Thirty odd dollars -- The precise amount he does not distinctly recollect -- and although said fine of Seventy five dollars was suspended by the kindness of His Excellency, still, owing to the great suppression of all business, and the unequaled monetary crisis, it is impossible for your petitioner to raise and pay said amount without great inconvenience to himself and family -- Your Excellency will do a favor never to be forgotten by Your petitioner should he intercede his clemency and remit entirely aforesaid amount of $75, and Your petitioner will ever pray &c
