Enclosed we send you two petitions for the remission of fines assessed at the present February term of of the Campbell Circuit Court one for $500 against Col. G. C. Moody of Indiana for Challenging Horace Heffen of Indiana to fight a duel, & the other of $250 against Lieut Col. Horace Heffren for accepting said challenge

The petitions are signed by all the jurors in each case & their names & the genuineness of their signatures are certifed to by the Clerk of the Court.

We will add our own to the recommendations of the jurors, believing both to be cases in which your clemency would properly be exercised, without detriment to the public & certainly not against the wishes of this community.
