On the 24^th Ins^t I petitioned you to issue your proclamation in regard to Rob^t R Harrison who escaped from our Jail & under charge of murder in the first degree — To day at the instance of Mr. John H White the father of the murdered man I hope you will immediately upon the receipt of this write to Mr. Jno H White informing him whether you have offered any reward for Harrison & how much — Mr. White intends offering a reward himself if he should regard it necessary after seeing yours — Mr. White is fully justifiable in the solicitude he manifests, as the murder was aggravated, unprovoked and brutal, and the evident conclusion beyond a doubt — and I will add here that the murdered man was a peacible worthy & good citizen= If any case of murder demands a large reward for the escaped accused murderer, this is certainly one — If you write to M^r. White you will do him a favor, or send him the papers containing your proclamation &c as he wishes to have it published in Nashville papers
