To His Honer Beriah M^cGuffin
Gov of Kentucky --

Your Petitioner William S Knott would state unto your excellency that in November 1861 your petitioner entered into a Recognizance as security of one William H Hite in the city Court of the City of Louisville in the penalty of Two Hundred dollars for his appearance before that tribunal to answer a missdemenour -- which Reco. Bond was forfeited and a scriefacias issued on same and returned not found as to said Hite and a judgment was rendered against your petitioner for the Sum of said Bond Towit Two Hundred dollars Your petitioner states that said Hite -- is a citizen of another County and I have sent process divers and sundry times to different counties to have same served on him but have been unable to find him. Now your petitioner prays the interposition of your excellency in his behalf in remitting the
the judgment rendered against him for the sum of Two Hundred dollars -- or so mutch thereof as you may have jurisdiction over -- Your petitioner being at this time in a condition not to pay same without great inconvenience -- to himself and family -- Believing that your excellency will do me justice in the premises.
