Your petitioners respectfully represent that at the March term of the Madison Circuit Court 1860 the Grand Jury of Madison County found an Indictment against Fortunatius Dozier for the offence of carrying ^a^ concealed weapon & at the September term following the said Indictment was tried & the Jury found a verdict of fifty dollars against Said Dozier Soon after ~~Said~~ the court at which the verdict was rendered above mentioned Your excellency respited upon a petition numerously signed by the citizens of Madison county all that it was in your power to respite for twelve months —

Your Petitioners in addition to what was Said in their first petition to Your excellency now further represent that up to the time of the finding of the Indictment against Fortunatius Dozier for carrying ^a^ concealed weapon ~~[...]~~ he was a law abiding sober discreet citizen
& since that time he has So continued & is now an industrious & Sober man trying to maintain his family —

Considering that Fortunatius Dozier is a poor man Scarcely able to maintain his family & that at the time he carried the weapon for which he was indicted his life had been threated & that he would have proved himself clear of any offence if he had been able to have had his witness present they respectfully pray your excellency to now remit entirely the fine against said Dozier or so much of is as is in your power to remit
