Wesley (a Slave) Defendant

The Defendant was this day brought into Court and being informed of the nature of the Indictment plea and verdict was asked if he had any legal cause to show why Judgment should not be pronounced against him and none being Shown It is adjudged by the Court that the defendant be taken to the Jail of Caldwell County and there~~fore~~ safely Kept until the 6^th day of September 1861. On which day between sunrise and sunset the sheriff of Caldwell County shall hang him by the neck until he is dead.
