The Commonwealth of Kentucky, to the Marshal of the City Court of Louisville Greeting

Whereas heretofore on the 18^th day of August 1862 in the City Court of Louisville Patrick Ryan and Charles Kremer, acknowledged themselves indebted to the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the sum of $600⁰⁰/₁₀₀ that is to say the said Patrick Ryan in the sum of Three Hundred dollars and the said Charles Kremer in the like sum of Three Hundred dollars, which they agreed should be levied and made of their respective goods and chattels, lands and tenements, and to the use of the said Commonwealth rendered, but to be void on condition that the said Patrick Ryan, keep the peace and be of good behavior for Six months from the 18^th day of August 1862, Otherwise to remain in full force and virtue Which recognizance was acknowledgeds before the Judge of ^the^ said Court, who then had competent power and authority to take the same, and which recognizance is of record and now here to the Court shown. And whereas at a Court begun and held for the City of Louisville at the Court House thereof in said City on the 2^d day of October 1862: The said Ryan was then and there presented to said Court, charged with having committed an Assault on one James. H. Lewis f. m. c. and by said charge being brought against him, and he being found guilty thereof, made default against the peace and dignity of the said Commonwealth, which is recorded and this writ awarded &^c You are therefor hereby commanded, that you make known to the said Ryan and Kremer, that they be, and appear before the judge of our said Court, at the Court house thereof in the City of Louisville on the first day of our next October term, to show cause if any they have or can, why the said Commonwealth shall not have ~~execution~~Judgment against them for the said sum of Six
Hundred dollars, according to the form force and effect of their said recognizance, if it shall be deemed expedient then and there so to do, and receive whatever else our said Court shall then and there adjudge and order concerning the premises, and have then and there this writ.
