Hugh T M^cCabe of this county has been fined for a Breach of the piece & herewith presents his Petition to the Go^v asking that his fine may be remitted

I Know M^r M^cCabe will and whilst he sometimes indulges to excess in the use of ardent spirits (and I suppose this was the case at the time the offence was committed) he is an inoffencive man and whin not under that influence, a very peaceable
man, He has for some time past been confined to his bed by sever disease and is now quite feble. He has for several months past been sober and I hope in future so continues. I hope you may present his case to the Go^v and urge the remission of the fine if consistent with his official dutys
