To his excellency James F Robinson Gov of the state of Ky. your Petitioners Thos Beuford and Stewart Myres would respectfully represent to your Excellency that on the [ ] day of Feb last they ^(were)^ arrested under a warrant for an asault. &c on the person of one Soloman Sailers and tried according to law before H W Farris a Justice of the Peace for Lincoln County and fined by the Jury $15.00 each. The facts are as follows, to wit One of your petitioners Thos Beuford was informed by his sister Mrs Donely that the prosecuter Sailers had came to her house and gave her such abuse as decency would forbid describing whereupon Beuford called upon him for an explination of the treatment towards his sister. Sailers gave an insulting reply and Buford struck him a few blows with his fist but injured him very little if any. Myres only interfered to prevent Sailers from hurting Beuford without doing him any harm. The asault was proven and the court would not permit the
defendants to prove the cause of the cause of the asault consequently the finding [...] as above stated They state they have been copelled to replevy the sum and will have it to pay without Executive inteferance, which they believe would be entirely unjust therefore they pray that your Excellency will give them such relief as may be proper in the premises & they will every pary &c
