To Honorable James Robinson, Governer of the State of Kentucky — Your petitioners would respectfully invite your attention to the following facts — that they think demands the exercise of your clemeny — "I,^e One John Barner was accused and indicted in the Lyon Circuit Cout. of this State at its [ ] term of said Court in 18[ ] charged with perjury — He was arrested & held for further trial, in the Sum of Five hundred dollars bail, with W H Bonner — Park Bonner & J H Bonner Sureties on Same — That said John Bonner went into some one of the Southern States unknon to your petitioners and forefeited his bond — That he has been pressed into the Confederate army, & has not been able therefrom to surrender himself to said Court to be dealt with according to law — They state, that Park & J H, Bonner have left this state and been absent near two years or more leaving N K Bonner to pay said Five hundred dollars bond above named, which was taken as forfeited at the ~~Clark~~[ ] term of said Court 18[ ] They state that through misfortune said W K Bonner is now placed in very limited circumstances, with a large family of little, children depending on him for a support — That has health is very bad, and to compel they payment of bond would effect irretrievable, & lasting injury and want and misery upon his little children, Wherefore we humbly beseech of you to exercise your clemency — in this
case in behalf of suffering humanity, We have been placed in a section of the state almost annihalated by this war, until recently marauding bands had almost complete control of this section, and we were blockaded by the federals in Consequence thereof — produing an entire stagnation of all manner of business which is one of the principal causes of said Bonner being now unable to meet this demand against him. If it please your honor release said Bonner from said forfeited bond — & save a poor family from utter destitution, ~~& remember~~
