At the present June term of our circuit court Jno M Stephens a worthy loyal & good citizen was fined $25 for standing a stallion without license he confessed Judgt — It appeared that Mr Stephens did not intend to evade the revenue laws of which I am satisfied — He directed an agent to pay for license & his agent forgot or omitted it. As Judgt was confessed you can remit three fourths of it — Be so kind as to do so — By prompt attention to this you will confer a personal favour on me. If you think bet to remit it enclose remitter to me I am with sentiments of high regard
