Your Petitioner Lewis Goodwall would most respectfully State that at the October term 1860 of the Jefferson Circuit Court he was tried for a felony in Said Court and Convicted and sent to the Penitentiary for the term of three years where he has been Confined at hard labour Ever Since &c — Now your petitioner would State honestly that he is between 70 & 80 years of age — that this is the first charge Ever made against him — and that he is not conscious of committing the offence — at the time it was committed — he was charged with killing a cow, the property of Valentine Keardall, skinning the cow and leaving the carcass on the command in Louisville — If I committed the offence I was not in a state of mind to recollect it — tho the proof was against me — He says that he is now very old and feble — that up to that time he had always born a good name and done Justly towards all men — that he ~~can~~ cannot live much longer — that he has already Suffered much and that in view of all the facts of the case he implores your Excellency to grant him a pardon and he will ever pray &c
