My dear sir,

We have concluded to erect another building of same size of our present "Home for soldiers", in which, we have obtained an order for a Pay Master's office, to pay off the discharged soldiers.

James Morton Esq^r former Cash^r of the Bank of Tennessee is now a resident of our city, and we have appointed him "Relief Agent", to procure all the monies due them, and also to attend to those who are entitled to Pensions, so as to save them from "sharpers". Will you please appoint James Morton Esq^r Notary Public, so that he can administer the oath to those obtaining their
discharges. This, will then, give us everything in the way of facility to help our patriot soldiers, returning to their Homes.
