I was elected one of the justices of Henderson county in 1860 ^also in 1861^. Not wishing to hold the office I declined being a candidate at the last election. The person elected in my place declines accepting the office, — now as I do not wish to hold the office, I now tender to you my resignation, to take effect immediately after the next August election, at which time you can order an election to be held for choosing my successor,
