James F. Robinson Esqr Governor of Kentucky
Dear Sir

Owing to the refusal of B. E. Courts Esqr to accept and quallify to his Commission as "Justice of the peace for Green County in District N^o 1. (he haveing accepted the appointment as Sheriff of the County) there is a vacancy in the office of Justice of the peace in said District. which it is desired may be filled by appointment by your Excellency, until the next Regular Election —

I respectfully recommend to your Excellency as one Suitable and acceptable & Competent for the duties of the office M^r John.. H. Alden a resident of the Town. Where his location Should be. Mr Alden is a good sound union man. true to the Constitution & Government of the United States & this State and his loyalty is undoubted, he is acceptable to the union men of this district & one quallified for the office & who I respectfully recommend to your Excellency & ask that his Commission be forwarded on to him as we need the Service of a Justice here.
