We the undersigned Officers of the 53rd Ky. Vol. Infty. most respectfully petition your Excellecy to commission C. J. True, late Col. 40th Ky. Vols. Colonel of this regiment.

Col. True has recruited a large number of men, and by consolidating his Recruits with this Regiment the Organization can be completed at once.

We are exceedingly anxious to have the regiment mounted, and fully equipped for the field.

We believe that the appointment of Col. True, will not only give entire satisfaction to all of our men, but will conduce in no small degree, to the efficiency, and usefulness of the regiment, and to the good of the service
And as in duty bound your Petitioners will ever pray &c.
