I am truly sorry that my business arrangments are such as to compell me to ask the acceptance of my Resignation as Capt. of Co. "B" 57th Reg. Ky. militia. I am about movving from the Dist. and of course cannot act in that capacity — 1^st Lieu,, Samuel Smith has also gone to Idaho leaving two vacancies in this Company.

Hoping that you will Refer this matter to the proper officer in due time and have the vacancies thus occasioned promptly and more Suitably filled
