Governor —

The term of service to the U. States of the 1st Ky vol Inftry expires on the 8^th day of June/64 — being the day on which the last company was Mustered-in for three years, completing the organization of the Regmts although many of the companies were Mustered-in during the month of May. In answer to a communication to Dept at Washington, I have received reply, that our Regmt will be mustered-out three years from the date of muster-in of last company, which would be June 8" /64 —

Will you address a communication to the Sectry of War, requesting an order as to the time, and where we will be mustered-out — This might include also the 2d Ky, with an order through Maj Genl Thomas releiving us from our present Post at Ooltawah, Tenn —

My men have served faithfully for over three years, and I am confident a large Majority will very soon re-enlist. — The sooner they are allowed to go home, the sooner they ^will^ again be in the field

I only desire a definite date to go by — By
giving this your immediate attention, as our time is short you will much oblige

To the Governor stating that the last company of his Regt was mustered in to the U S service on the 8^th day June 1861 for 3 years. Desires you to address a communication to the Secy of War, requesting an order as to where and when they will be mustered out. with an order in Gen^l Thomas to relieve them. Thinks a large Majority of them will reenlist after their time is out. This request might be made to Embrace the 2^d Ky also.
