The bearer of this, Lt. Benj H. Howser, formerly of the 15" Ky. vol inf. Army of the Cumberland, and a citizen of this our county, as endeavoring to enlist men in obedience to the late Order for organising The stateguard. We as unionmen take pleasure in attesting his loyalty, energy and zeal in the cause of our common country against traitors and factionists: and we are assured that he will discharge the duties fully of any position or trust confided to him in the organisation or command of men for the defense of our state: and we cordially recommend him for any position where his services are needed.
