I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of the 16^th inst. The mail facilities between some of our posts of rendezvous and these Head Quarters is such, that the details of recruiting officers comes in very slowly. The draft now being enforced in various sections of the state, has materially retarded our efforts in raising these troops. However, his Excellency the Governor has determined that they shall be raised in the required time, if he has to resort to a draft. I hope to be able, in a few days, to report accurately the number rendezvoused at each post. Your mention of Pro M Genl^s direction about mustering these troops in by regiments was duly noted, and directions given accordingly. Col Gallup stated he would

be able to report the first regiment in a short time. We desire to have the recruits clothed and enlisted as fast as the report at the different post preparatory to regimental organizations.
