Dear Sir,

Your favor of yesterday has been received, and shown his Excellency- the Governor. Any assistance you may render us, in raising or organizing our six months troops will be highly appreciated. Of course, if you are still at Louisville, it would be best to aid in the organization of the troops we congregate at that point. If you can succeed in raising a Brigade, the Governor will make the strongest possible application that you be given a rank suitable to its command. The troops will be in the United States service, and beyond the power of the Governor to officer, other than in regimental organizations. I trust you will be able to raise and organize several regiments. All assistance we can render you, will be granted.
