GENERAL ORDERS
No. 1.

Under the recent call of the President for three hundred thousand men, dated December 19, 1864, Kentucky has been assigned a quota of ten thousand four hundred and eighty-one.

The depleted ranks of our veteran regiments in the field call in loudest tones for assistance. Let us who cherish them as defenders and friends, lend every energy to this call, and send brave volunteers to them as comrades in arms. By our determination to cheerfully respond to all demands made upon us, as a State, by the General Governmnet, we show our enemies that their hope is forlorn, and that our Unoin must and shall be sustained. Volunteering lends a moral force to our gallant braves in the field, whilst compulsion adds a gloom. Meet the emergency promptly whilst it is yet time, and work!

The number required from each District in the State, after taking into account the credits up to the ~~19th December, 1864~~31 January 1865, has been furnished by Lieut. Col. W. H. Sidell, Assistant Provost Marshal General of Kentucky. Subsequent enlistments will be credited on the quotas as assigned below:

The quotas of the sub-districts or counties will be furnished by application to the Deputy Provost Marshals.
