Hartford, Kentucky, attorney and politician. Hartford native. Son of John Hardin McHenry. Married to Jennie Taylor McHenry on January 26, 1856. Graduate of Transylvania University Law School in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1845. Attorney in Hartford in 1845. Member of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1851 to 1853. Member of the Senate of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1861 to 1865.
