Mason County, Kentucky, attorney and politician. Kentucky native. Married to Martha M. Wood Wadsworth in Lewis County, Kentucky, in June 1849. Father of Adney Wadsworth, Henry Wadsworth, Charles Wadsworth, John G. Wadsworth, and Elizabeth J. Wadsworth. Educated at Maysville Seminary. Graduated from Augusta College in 1841. Studied law and admitted to the bar in 1844. Attorney in Maysville, Kentucky, in 1850. Owned three enslaved persons in Mason County in 1850. Member of the Senate of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1853 to 1856. Presidential elector for the Constitutional Union Party in 1860. Served in the United States Army as a colonel and as an aide to General William “Bull” Nelson. Served the Ninth Congressional District of Kentucky as a Unionist member of the United States House of Representative from 1861 to 1865.
