Boone County, Kentucky, physician, surgeon, and politician. Owen County, Kentucky, native. Son of Robert M. Scott. Married to Evelyn F. O’Hara Scott in Owen County on November 11, 1845. Father of Charles O’Hara Scott, Mary L. Scott, Robert A. Scott, and John Scott. Graduated from the medical department at Transylvania University in 1842. Physician in Boone County in 1850. Studied at the Medical College of Ohio in 1853. Member of the Jeffersonian Democratic Party and Whig Party. Physician in Boone County in 1860. Owned two enslaved persons in Boone County in 1860. Served in the 2nd Kentucky Infantry Regiment (C.S.A.) as a private from August 1, 1861, to 1862. Served in a Bowling Green hospital under Dr. David Yandell in 1861. Served in Major Phifer’s Arkansas Cavalry (C.S.A.) as a surgeon in 1861. Member of the Council of Ten in the provisional government of Kentucky. Served in the Fourth Kentucky Cavalry (C.S.A.) as a surgeon from November 26, 1862, to 1865. Served as medical director for the Department of Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee. Served under General John C. Breckinridge in North Carolina until he surrendered in June 1865.
