Louisville, Kentucky, physician and soldier. Son of David H. Meriweather and Lydia Meriweather. Physician in Louisville in 1860. Member of the convention of the provisional government held at Russellville in November 1861. Served in the 10th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (C.S.A.) as a captain from September 1862 to July 1863. Captured with John Hunt Morgan in July 1863. Prisoner of war from July 1863 to October 1864 when he was exchanged and paroled.
