Educated at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1818. Practiced medicine as an ophthalmologist in Maysville, Kentucky. Relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1841. Founded a hospital with Drs. Vattier, Strader, and T. N. Marshall, in Cincinnati in 1841.
