Married Elizabeth Metcalfe Haldeman in October 1844. Father of William B. Haldeman, John A. Haldeman, Lizzie Haldeman, Bruce Haldeman, and Isabelle Haldeman. Clerk for the Louisville Journal in Louisville in 1840. Founded the Louisville Courier in 1843. Fled Louisville under threat of arrest in September 1861. Published the Louisville Courier in Nashville, Tennessee, from September 1861 to February 1862. Published the Louisville Courier from various locations in the Confederate States of America from 1862 to 1865. Published the Louisville Courier in Louisville beginning on December 5, 1865.
