Hancock County, Kentucky, attorney. Breckinridge County, Kentucky, native. Married to Mary W. Hamilton Williams. Father of Hamilton Williams, Ione Williams Baker, James Russell Williams, Mary Ruth Williams Crutcher, and Hugh A. Williams. Teacher in Helena, Arkansas, in 1837. Studied law with the firm of Thomasson and Boon in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1838. Admitted to the bar in 1840 in Hawesville, Kentucky. Member of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from Hancock and Ohio counties from 1850 to 1851. Owned four enslaved people in Hancock County in 1850. Unsuccessful Democratic candidate for Senate of the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 1857. Elector for the Democratic presidential ticket of James Buchanan in 1856. Owned eight enslaved persons in Hancock County in 1860.
