Paducah, Kentucky, attorney and soldier. Green County, Kentucky, native. Son of Samuel Thompson and Alice Petty Thompson. Married to Mary Jane Bowman Thompson. Married to Harriet Harding Thompson. Married to Mary Mayes Thompson. Attorney in Paducah in 1860. Commonwealth's attorney for the First Judicial District of Kentucky until 1860. Member of the convention of the provisional government held at Russellville in November 1861. Served in the 3rd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (C. S. A.) as a colonel from October 18, 1861 to March 25, 1864. Killed in battle at Paducah on March 25, 1864.
