Laurel County, Kentucky, attorney and judge. Laurel County, Kentucky, native. Married to Elizabeth Adams Pearl in 1860. Father of John Pearl, Helen Pearl, and Sallie Pearl. Admitted to the bar in 1842. Attorney in Laurel County, Kentucky, in 1850. Commonwealth’s attorney of the 12th Judicial District of Kentucky in London from 1850 to 1856. Judge of the 12th Judicial District of Kentucky in London from 1856 to 1867. Owned twenty-six enslaved persons (including Clarissa Pittman) in Laurel County in 1860. Arrested by General James S. Brisbin on November 3, 1865. Charged in the Fayette Circuit Court with violating the Congressional Act "To encourage enlistments and to promote the efficiency of the military forces of the United States," for the sale of an enslaved woman married to a soldier in the United States Colored Troops.
