Breckinridge County, Kentucky, teacher and soldier. Kentucky native. Married to Cordelia Woodward in Ohio County, Kentucky, in October 1854. Father of Luther Woodward, Lissie Woodward, and Walter Woodward. Married to Henrietta J. Payne on December 17, 1863, in Hancock County, Kentucky. Teacher in Breckinridge County in 1860. Served in the 12th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as captain from November 17, 1862, to April 7, 1863. Provost marshal in Hancock County in 1864. Commissioned to recruit a company of the State Guard on July 15, 1864.
