Henry County, Kentucky, minister, educator, and school administrator. Kentucky native. Married to Sarah E. Raines Giltner. Married to Mary E. Ogdon Duncan Giltner. Father of Annabel Giltner, Elizabeth Giltner, Leigh G. Giltner, William S. Giltner, Jr., and Johnnie Giltner. Graduate of Bethany College in West Virginia. Ordained a Christian minister in 1852. Charter member of the Eminence Independent Order of Odd-Fellows in 1858. Teacher and president of Eminence College from 1858 to 1893.
