Harlan County, Kentucky, farmer and soldier. Virginia native. Married to Elizabeth Blankenship. Father of Emily Blankenship and Arthur Blankenship. Farmer in Harlan County in 1860. Served in the Harlan County Battalion of Kentucky State Militia as a major from October 1862 to January 1863. Served in the 47th Kentucky Mounted Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a captain from October 1863 to December 1864. Enrolled as captain in the Three Forks Battalion Regiment (U.S.A.) on March 1, 1865. Postmaster of Poor Fork in Harlan County, Kentucky, from June 1859 to July 1863 and September 1865 to December 1868.
